Eating Alone

I always thought eating alone wasnt my thing. I can eat alone at home.. but never in a public place.. i remember when i was in college.. even if i was hungry to death and my acid starts kicking in, i would never eat alone! if i couldn't find anyone i know in the cafeteria, i'd buy a waffle or anything i can eat while walking. i'd walk around campus going nowhere! kawawang loner. even at the mall. i'd always buy a drink and eat while window shopping. i like shopping alone, by the way.
Last Tuesday though, i was reallllyyyy hungry and i knew i had to eat something heavy coz i was going to the gym at around 8 pm. since i cldnt find anyone to eat with me, i went downstairs by myself. i've been craving for pesto from figaro so i went straight to the coffee shop. i was tyring to decide wthr or not i should have it to-go and eat it in the pantry or eat it there and have all the cheese i want. Well, for the first time, i decided to eat alone. it felt weird and the place was almost empty. i read magazines that are soooo not intersting for me just to avoid looking weird with no one to talk to while eating. after a few minutes, i left the place satisfied and unharmed. heeeeheeee. maybe i should try it more often.
pasta.kitchen.2
i think those who can't eat alone may have something to do with their self-confidence. although i am ok with myself, i guess i can do better. basta weird talga if you eat alone.

The Fairly OddParents!!!!

fairly oddparents

Aside from Spongebob SquarePants, i also find another cartoon from Nickelodeon really hilarious! It's THE FAILY ODDPARENTS!

This is about a little boy, Timmy, who has fairly oddparents. Not only do they give him anything that he wishes for, but they also give him good advice! His OddParents are wanda and cosmo. Wanda is the witty and smart one and acts like a real godparent. Cosmo on the other hand.. needs more brain power! Harhar! I also find timmy's teacher, Mr. Crocker, (ito yung kontrabida) really funny coz he twitches in a real weird way when he says: "Fairly-Odd-Parents!" He's always trying to prove they exist but never really succeeds!

wanda!

Here are the major characters:

Timmy - The boy with the silly pink hat and fairy god parents. The kid who the show is about.

Wanda - She is one of Timmy's Fairy God Parents. She usually is smart and gentle and she will remain that way unless you make her mad. If you do, oh boy... it's over for you. (She has been known for making dinosaurs extinct).

Cosmo - Cosmo is Timmy's other God Parent. Most of the time he is not too bright, but he's a real fun person to be around.

Timmy's Mom & Dad - Timmy's mom and dad are well meaning, yet slightly weird parents. They both love Timmy more than anything.

Vicky - Vicky is Timmy's extremely nasty baby-sitter.

AJ - AJ is one of Timmy's best friends and likes to play his video games (created by magic). Plus, he's very smart and girl-crazy!

Chester - Chester is very much like AJ. They both like Timmy and are his best friends. He has blonde hair and braces, and his father was the worst major league baseball player ever.

Mr. Crocker - Mr. Crocker is Timmy's wacky teacher. He always wants to find Timmy's GodParents!

Pathological Liars...

I came across this article on pathological liars.. it's really cool and intersting especially if you know someone who has the habit of doing it. Nway, read on if you are intersted.

dessagirl disorder 2005-003: PATHOLOGICAL LYING

A pathological liar believes in the lies, at least at the time that she or he is talking. Their stories tend to be very dramatic. They often portray the person as being smarter, braver, more attractive, or more interesting than she or he really is. Sometimes people begin to catch onto pathological liars because of obvious flaws in the stories. A fairly young man will describe his heroics in the Vietnam war. A homely woman will talk about all the men who fell instantly in love with her. Sometimes the flaws may be more subtle and it may take a knowledgeable person to find them. Often it happens that a pathological liar will be caught out at a party by someone who really was a pilot, really lived in Africa, or really was a fashion model.
Suspect a pathological liar if:
-the stories seem too dramatic or unrealistic
-the lies seem to serve no purpose except to impress people or
-the lies can easily be shown up
Sometimes pathological lying appears to be related to physical causes, such as problems in the brain. Other times they appear to be related to low self-esteem. In any case, good diagnosis and treatment is needed. Contact your healthcare provider for assistance and referrals if needed.

My Trip to the Aloha State

Aloha! Last month, i had a chance to go back to hawaii after 10 years. It's still one of the most beautiful places on earth because of its weather, people, and the island itself. We stayed at our family friend's house, the Suetos'. Although the trip was short and tiring, it was such a blessing to be there again.

Tita Lina took me and my parents to pearl harbor. This is called the USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL. This is such a cool place: you can take a boat going to one of the ships that sank (Arizona). They made this port thingy where you can stand up and when you look over the window, you can see the battle ship below you. Most people who visit here are the japanese. Here's a pic of Tita Lina, my mom, and I at Pearl Harbor:

pearl harbor
Then we went to the Aloha Tower. It's this tower near waikiki and i took some pictures from the top. You can see almost all of the island from there.
view of hawii from the aloha tower
The highlight of my stay in hawaii was the encounter God retreat. This was the main reason why i went with my parents. Last June 2004, i got a chance to attend this retreat and was empowered by the holy spirit. Last March, i was already part of the staff who facilitated the retreat. I did small talks/lectures with 5 teenagers who were all filipinos but mostly were born in hawaii so they can't speak in filipino. Again i am thankful to the Lord for using me and my family in this ministry. There were about 15 attendees from the Filipino congregation and the EGR was held in makaha golf club and resort. This experience reminded me of the prayer of Jabez: where you ask the Lord to expand your teritory to fulfill the great commission of sharing Christ to those who are lost. Doing mission work and ministry outside my country helped me realized that it is possible for God to use an ordinary girl like me to actually share his love to others. Pastor Randy, (pastor of Waipahu Church) asked me to come back this September so i can handle the youth again... hmm payagan kaya ako mag leave? plus yung leave ko for hong kong disneyland? plus yung leave ko for my summer getaway? parang feeling ko ang dami ko pang leave credits. Nway, here's a pic of most of the kids i handled (from left to right: melissa, moi, venus, baby jane, and leni-tita lina's daughter)

Well, hope to be back soon... Sarap kasama ang aking hapines dito... yihee!

Extender Power!

Last week, my labiedabie and i brought his mom to the market so we can have sweet and sour fish for lunch (masarap sha!)

So we dropped her off and went around the block. We saw manong bungs (bunge kasi sha) selling those stretchable tube-like cloth that you wear on your forearms.. i like to call them EXTENDERS!!!

Dessa Girl: Hi manong, magkano po isang pair?

Manong Bungs: 45 lang (with matching great big smile)

Dessa Girl: ha? yung tapat.. magkano po talga..

Manong Bungs: ha?

My Labidabie Ko: yung tapat.. magkano po?

Manong Bungs: ha? 10 piso nalang?

Si manong bungs talga o... hindi naman sha binge, no? In short we got 3 pairs for a hundred. feeling ko super bargain ako biglang sabi ng utol ko you can get those for 25.. grrrr!! o well, at least kumita si manong. diba?

Nway, boo's mom took a while kasi hindi lang pala isda ang binili niya.. so we got bored and tried the extenders on! hmmm.. makati sha ha. i see people using them like the oh-so-saucy golfers, hikers, manong tricycle drivers, atbp.. his mom's gona use it for her gardening. odiba? i think using this is a lot better than those really hot long-sleeve shirts..

My labidabie and i will mowdel dem extenders for all of you: ENJOY!

What I Did Last Week

Hello ebrybady! This is what i did last week:

-wake up really late
-eat until i am stuffed
-have afternoon naps
-dvd marathon with my labidabie
-cook kilbasa again! (nasunog nga eh, tsk!)
-pausukin ang kusina dahil sa nasunog na kilbasa
-buy new nike shoes with 50% discount!(happiness!)
-buy me a goofy mug!
-sleep some more
-go to justin's first bday party
-easter egg hunting sa women's fellowship
-and eat some more

The result? i gained another 3 lbs! DAAAAAYMMMMM! promise, i will go on a diet. i want to have a sexy badeeeeh. wish ko lang.. tsk, wat's a good diet ba? none of those south beach ecklabush please..

And of course, in the midst of all the bumming around i did, i made sure i reminded myself of what Jesus did for us:

THE GOOD NEWS:
-JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS
-HE WAS BURRIED
-HE ROSE ON THE THRID DAY!!!

As Christians, we shouldnt limit our reflections to just doing it every holy week. This should be in our lifestyle..sharing the Good News to those who are not in Christ yet... amen!!!

Hope you guys had a great week!

HHHHEEEEELLLLP!

oh my gulay! help please! last night, my cousin told me that i would be home alone tomorrow until after lunch. ok lang... e anu ngayon? last week pako naka leave ni hindi pa ako nakakarami ng tulog. then she told me: "bumili ako ng kilbasa" (wowoweew!) this is one of the bestest foods on my list and i can only buy it in the states. so everytime i come here, or anyone else in the family comes here, i always ask them to bring home at least 5 of this yummy sausage-like thingy.

the problem is this: "paki luto nalang. lahat, yung 3. para kumain yung mga bata and magbabaon si jonathan" (her hubby and my cousin) O MY GULAY! PANICK ATTACK! dessa girl is in panick level 10!!!!!

thank you, Lord and my boo was on line. it was noel who intoduced this dish to moi. i felt so stupid asking my boo how to FRY that thing.... i even asked my sister to pray for me coz its a lot of food to put to waste..

noooowww, i am alone and done cooking (thanks so much to my boo... i miss you!). i took a picture of the first batch i cooked but cant upload the thing yet. and i had brunch at 10am. it tasted ok... wahaaaa! so nervous. what will they say? yung mga bata madali i-please. kasi before i cooked eggs and hotdogs and they were like: "tita dessa, that was good... thanks so much!"

nway, for those of you who can cook, this may sound stupid but i was nervous in doing the following recipe

-slice kilbasa into quater of an inch thick
-cook with water until h2o's all gone
-wait until garlic is brown and set aside
-fry onions then add in the garlic and kilbasa

it sounds so damn easy, right? WELL NOT FOR ME! NEWS FULASH! I DO NOT COOK! i do not slice onions, or skin garlic (whatever you call that) or slice oversized sausages!

sus, napaka pathetic ko... nway, it's 12:30 PM and i better take a shower kasi may uuwi na. and! hindi ako natalsikan ng mantika! WAHUUUU!

shoot, sana masarap yung linuto ko. i'll post the pic as soon as i can.

A sad valentine's day

A sad Valentine's Day.. not just for me, but for thousands of people as well. In my part, i did not spend it with noel (since he's in germany), or with my friends (they all had dates), or with my family (they were at home). After extending a couple of hours at work, i went to the gym in dusit. My usual cardio thing was to go on the cross trainer. since somebody else was using it, i decided to go outside since they have the aero by the pool, thinking that i'd join them instead. and then BOOM! We all heard that sound from outside.

At first i wasn't even curious with what happened even if people from the pool were standing on the flower boxes to check it out. We all thought that it was from the MRT. When i heard the siren, that's when i realized that people were actually hurt from that blast. I called up my family and friends just to check if they were ok..and thank God they were.

I guess these things really happen. It's sad that there are people in this world who do not have the love of the Lord in them, which brings them to such actions. Although i do not personaly know any of the victims, i am greatly affected by this. My suggestion is for people to continuosuly pray for our country. And for chistians to share God' s love boldly and to have the desire to let them know that there is a better life.. a life where things actually make sense and no dork would say they want peace by killing hundreds or even thousands of people.

Child Abuse

Sleeping thea
Originally uploaded by dessagirl.
Several weekends ago, i went to tagaytay for a planning session with some of my officemates. That was actually from Thursday to Saturday. Afterwhich, I met up with my cousins (also in Tagaytay) where all of us stayed in one house with my nephews and nieces.

I was really tired so i decided to take a nap in one of the rooms and found a spot beside my sister watchin tv on the matress. I had my back to her when i fell asleep. A few moments later, i felt her moving behind me, which woke me up, so i moved away.

Then i woke up again since she was against me AGAIN and i moved away AGAIN and grunted "tsk, NO!" This happened once more and i found myself almost on the floor already. I was so irritated with her, i shoved her REAL hard. As in tinulak ng sobra, yung parang pikon?!

When i looked behind me, i saw an orange shirt move. That's when i remembered my sister was wearing white.. (teka lang) it turned out it was my niece, Thea!!! Huwaaaa! She transfered to our room and squeezed in between me and my sister!

I felt so bad, i hugged and kisses her so many times. Thank God she didn't feel it.. Kawawa naman my minime. Ang sama ko daw sabi ni rona and melvin.

How to know what you or others prioritize

Just want to share with you my favorite entry from one of my favorite books: pdl or the purpose driven life by rick warren:

The importance of things can be measured by how much time we are willing to invest in them. The more time you give to something, the more you reveal its importance and value to you. If you want to know a person's priorities, just look at how they use their time.

Time is your most precious gift becuase you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can't make more time. When you give someone
your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you'll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greates gift you can give someone is your time.

It is not enough just to say relationships are important; we must prove it by
investing time in them. Words alone are worthless. "My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action" 1Thess 5:10 Relationships take time and effort,
and the best way to spell love is T-I-M-E."

(Warren, p. 127)

do you think this is u?
