shoe ishu

ok... need a little help here regarding policies for dresscodes, particularly with shoes. for guys, there is no problem distinguishing corporate shoes from thier rubber shoes. so that's pretty settled.

however, it's a different story for girls. some people think that open-toe should not be allowed. closed shoes should always be worn, with or without heels... this is a bit of a problem since a lot of girls arnt comfy wearing closed shoes. why? it causes corn on your toes and around your foot. if you want to buy really comfy pumps, you have to have a budget of around 4k to buy from marks, naturalizer, rockport, ect.

in my opinion, i think open-toe shoes should be allowed since these looks corporate as well:

similar to these...

on the other hand, these.. although these are closed shoes...i think they do NOT look corporate at all...

(although i like the last one a lot.. and wear something similar to work sometimes).. point is, wats a gud suggestion to distinguish corporate open-toe shoes from non-corporate open-toe shoes? la lang.

Eat all you can

Grabe na ito... super tagal ko nang hindi nag-blog ever... heniways, check out a real nice resto.. it's an eat all you can restaurant for only 600++ a plate: BRAZIL BRAZIL
they serve you grilled stuff from beef down to bananas. sobrang sarap and sulit. all the side dishes are placed in the buffet table: pasta, rice, soup, salads, etc. pati na rin desert. the main course, they serve in a different way.

food comes with 3 types fo sauces: gravey, bbq, at isa pang hindi ko na maalala.

each table has this yoyo thing with a red side and a green side.. when the green side's up, it means they can serve you ANYTHING from the grill.. it the red side's up, stop muna... er, i was the one who kept on flipping this thing to green.. mwehehehe..

here is how they serve the main dish. they just bring it to your table and slice it in front of you while you help them with a thong... super yummy... i tried their roast beef, pork, german sausage. they also served chicken legs, pineapple, banana, etc.

so when you pass by rockwell, dont forget to try BRAZIL BRAZIL!!

All we like sheep...

Take a look at my student's artwork. we had a lesson of how God appointed king david when he was just a kid and looking after sheep.. for our art, i made them glue the pieces together to form a sheep. ang cute 'no? nakakatawa yung green na sheep sa lower left.

cell group

last March we had seminar at church regarding the importance of cell groups. cell leaders from bf, olongapo, bicol, galas, pamapanga were there. and even if i no longer had a cell group, i still wanted to join since i'm hoping to start another one sa youth naman but still continue the one with my cousins. this seminar was given by pastor uriel.. ithe things he said were really powerful and encouraging. people again were reminded of the what really matters: TO BRING MORE SOULS TO CHRIST. hope i could be part of a cell as well.. not as a cell leader but as a member. cell leaders talk less. if you're a member, you can do all the talking. mwehehehe.. it's a good place to vent and to be open without any hesitations.

Things you can do in HK

1. Get fasyon tips from peeps ober dr. i personaly liked the way people dressed in hongkong. since it's still winter, most girls wear boots with skirts and jeans. sobrang cool! some of my friends think they are baduy. i, on the other hand, totally enjoyed their fashion sense. take a look at pix i got from the mtr (mrt satin) and mcdo. their wardrobe is totally inspired by the 80's with wild colors and polka prints matched with plaid and stripes. even their hair are 80's/anime inspired! wish i could pull this off!

boots galore

2. Shopping. siyempre, hindi mawawala ito. kahit anu pang pigil ang gawin ko, hindi ko kaya. mwehehe.. but i got good bargains tho. you can go in street markets, malls that look weird and scary (yung tipong nasa basement tapos parang maraming goons), or at really classy malls with designer stuff. if you buy in the mongkok night market, things are really expensive. but if you go to the dubious malls i mentioned, you will find real nice tops for hk$25 each (forex is hk$1 = php7.5). but if you to stores like giordano, bossini, g2000, u2, esprit, you'd get really good bargains pagnataon na sale talga. like in tung chung (spell check) if you buy 2 items, you get an additional 20% off the sale price! o diva? here is my sis and i in mong kok night market. i'll be posting pics of the stores where i got real good discounts.

3. Theme Parks. masarap mamashal dito kasi everything is so accessible through commute! you can walk, take the train, bus, or ferry. i'm proud to say that i'm pretty good with the hk mtr already.. hehe.. iwan moko sa kahit anung station, and i'll find my way back. dito pag nagcommute ka, sobrang hasle! my sister, her boyfriend, and noel and i went to disneyland and ocean park. my parents didn't bother to go at nagikot nalang sa mga tindahan ng intsik. we were also with divine, ptr. demi's daughter. she's out tour guide! the girls liked disneyland more while the boys enjoyed ocean park better. i guess it's because of the rides. we had a free ticket for disneyland so i'm not sure how much yung entrance. from admiralty station of the mtr, bus ride and entrance for ocean park is $hk 208. mejow mahal.

4. Visit friends. we spent our sunday service at Church of Christ in Hong Kong located in Central. it's a congregation of around 60 and most are females, working in Hong Kong. the rest are permanent residents and most are filipinos. ptr. demi and ptr. sunny (he will now be moving to dubai) are the ones taking care of our brothers and sisters who need a lot of encouragement since they are far from their families and usually have difficult employers. they are so warm and super nice! last 2003, one of the girls, si grace, brought us to a nearby market. she's now moving to canada.. if you're around hk, you might wana visit them. nakaka-bless!

Here is a pic of boo and i with pastor demi. He is one of the engineers of HK Disneyland and brought my parents to disneyland plus a night's stay in the disneland hotel last september before it officially opened. here's our pic with pastor demi. the goofy winter edition was from my boo! he surprised me and bought it for me coz i couldnt afford it! hehe.. he followed me and tried to see which goofy doll i wanted.. then bought it for me.. awww..

Transformation Ito

Hi! Had painful stuff done to my myself a couple of weeks ago.. and no, it's not lipo. but if i can afford that, why not? ang vain talga. nways, my froofy hair is no more since i'm on to my fourth rebonding session: soooooo, sabunot dito at sabunot doon. ouch!

Here is my famous rebonder and his bro. secret identity daw sila eh.
sabunot in all directions

then, i had 2 of my teeth extracted to put my braces. masakiiiiit! hindi ako nagbibiro. i drool when i sleep, i'm on a soft diet, and i cannot do other important things.. uuuugh! since i am older, the brace will have to stay in my mouth for a minimum of 2 years. having the elastics is real painful since it feels like you have pressure in your mouth every second. thank you, Lord at may ponstan. ang mga singaw ko ay pahaba since the wires scratch my inner cheeks when i talk and eat. thank you, Lord at may wax. the molar bands are a real pain as well. 4 of my molars are wrapd in steel, which makes it super uncomfortable and painful for me.

Here is doc aaron pulling out my tooth. i like his jacket. the one in the blue's clues suit is my cousin and dentist, doc cathy. it's because of her that i can finally afford braces:

bukod sa nasaktan ang anit at bibig ko, nasaktan din and bulsa ko. aysus, kailangan wag muna dumaan sa mall... here is the wonderful result of my hair and mouth makeover: sana gumanda na ako.. mwehehe

Lost in the city

my best friend, kathy invited me to help out in her brother's exhibit a few weeks ago. Kuya jomike is now back from the states after studying there. they decided to put up their own studio. Check-out FISHEYE STUDIOS. Here is kuya jomike doing is speech...
,
fisheye's exhibit

my gosh, sobrang jologs ko. i took a cab from work going to RCBC plaza. i even asked my officemates if the carlos romulo theater was in the new building to make sure kasi ang alam ko RCBC had an old building where the mapua IT courses were being conducted. so anyways, i went up to the building and asked if the theater was inside. the stupid guard said: ay ma'am! hindi po dito. sa kabila pa iyon! and he pointed towards makati med. GULP! MANONG, pwede hong lakarin? --hindi daw. mag cab daw ako. buti nalang at pinilit ko maglakad. i went across ayala through the underpass and when it got to convergys, i asked around and everyone pointed me back to the building! i even called kath and told her it was in a different building since she was in shell already! jooooooolooooooogs! grabe pa naman magpanick yon. buti nalng she asked around and called me and told me i was supposed to go back.

so super pawis nako halos ma-jabar nako, i went back to the tunnel with the help of those guys who manage the parking lots in makati. (thank you sa inyo!)

in short, nagmuka akong timang sa makati. nasa kabilang dulo lang ng office namin ang building na ito at kung saan-saan pako tinuro ng guard. gusto ko shang sugurin kaya lang late na ang lola mo.. to think i promised to help out as a receptionist.. waaaaaaa!

The Red Restaurant

hmmmm.. it's been quite a while since i ate at a very expensive fine-dining resto.. acutally.. i don't remember the last time i did..
.
last week, i got the chance to go to one of those places again.. the waiters and waitresses were wearing these long gown-like skirts na black.. ang ganda! then they had red velvet chairs that were real tall and heavy.. then they had lots of knives and forks beside the plates... noel and i were looking for spoons.. hehe.. thanks to his mom, who treated us for his birthday, we got to eat yummy steak! we had apetizers first which looked so pretty that it was hard to ruin the garnish. here are pictures of tomatoes with motzarella and pesto. it's yummy! and then some crab cakes? ewan.

6
heniways, ang employee giveaways this year ay groceries na pinack namin sa warehouse. ayayayay!! nakakapagod itich! pero happy kasi FWs (factory workers) ulit kami.

maiba naman ako.. meron akong kinakatakutan: ang magpa-braces.. naku po.. sinukatan nako and kinuhaan lahat ng angulo ng mga ipin ko.. ang next visit ko sa dentist, bubunutan lang naman ako ng 2 ngipin tapos lalagyan daw ng molar separator (kung anuman yun, nakakatakot sha panigurado).. kaya ako magpapabrace ay dahil sa overbite ko. and since ang pinsan kong ubod ng ganda ang gagawa nito, malaki ang discount ng lola mo. here's my shot of the before thing. after 3 years pa yung "after" picutre

An Awesome God

Havnt been able to blog for a couple of weeks but i'm back! nway, i just want to share with you how the Lord has blessed our family in Christ's Church in BF Homes (CCBFH).. this is where i go to church by the way, where my dad is a senior pastor. nways, the chruch decided to finally purchase a lot since we have been renting places for our sunday worship. from 40 members, we are now around 220 and still growing. we are currntly renting the 2nd floor of the prudential bank building in las pinas... and it has always been our dream for the the church to have it's own property. after years of praying, we finally purchased a lot just outside bf homes in the south land entrance in front of the polo field of aguire... and guess how big this is: it's 6,667 sqm!! waha! that's like 20x larger than the place we are renting now! imagine the challenge and faith it took us to claim this! not only did the Lord provide us a place of worship but the facility will also be used as a learning center for Christian leaders..
a
with 220 members and with just half a million in the bank, the church now needs to raise PhP 26,668,000!! o-ha! it takes Great Faith to believe that we have this kind of money! but then we did it. december 1, we signed the contract and on december 8, we were able to raise 1.8 million for the downpayment.. i dont know where it came from but with all the prayers and contacts, the Lord provided for us.. now we have to pay 1.2 million every month for a whole year and we are still praying hard on where to get the funds..
a
the church is planning to have major fund raising acitivities like donor's dinner, golf tournament, and a major concert. members were also asked to pledge whatever amount they can to help..
a
few weeks ago, we had a garage sale beside the building we were renting and were able to raise PhP 21,000 for the said acitvity.. people were soooo excited to do their shopping! look! i was placed in the jeans section kaya mejo mahina ang benta.. tsk.. people liked bags, polos, and toys the most.
a
garage sale
9
we also had a prayer early dec 17 for the lot. around 50 people were there to pray for the Lord's guidance..

please pray for CCBFH... we need all the help we can get!

Taong Timog sa Hilaga

2 weekends ago, i went to the libis area.. havnt done this since 6 months...it's my inaanak's 3rd bday and it was held in jollibee libis. (Belated Happy Birthday Mr. Gio Riofrio! a.k.a superman!) after this, my sister and some of our old churchmates went to eastwood and afterwards at the new market in Tiendesita's.

gio

The last time i went to Eastwood was 3 years ago so it's still something new to me. nways, i didnt know shops there were open until midnyt during weekends. sobrang ok ito! there was also this event for pets.. they had dog shows and all...tiangges for dogs too! lemi show you picture i took:

here is a stall that sell sofas for your pets and shoes as well. how cute!

after this, i went to see the new TIEN DESITA'S. this is mytha, sam and i. Nways, It's this new market place that is supposed to promote Filipino products. it has this asian design.. um, how do i describe this.. something like gigantic huts? shops were in rows and some were air-conditioned while others were of the typical tiangges. We went there at around 7 pm and it was really hot! imagine shopping there at 12 PM! naku, super pawis ang mga tao nun! yikes! there were sections for accessories, furnitures, food, antiques, and pets. in the center, there's this big food court with a stage for a band. it's this big circus tent thingy with colorful lamps and vintas (not sure) hanging. nway, the food's yummy and a bit expensive.. there was nilaga for 90 pesos per order and tuna belly na 2 inches lang for almost 200. my friend, IRIS, on the other hand said the food they ate was realy cheap like this big plate of nachos for 90.. oh well... i enjoyed my bbq with rice and violet puto (putobungbung ba yun? hindi ko alam spelling eh)
