Impactong Tooth ~ Part 2

My tooth this year had an unusual shape though. you know how the normal tooth is shaped like, right?

well, mine had its root shaped like a hook! sort of like a letter "J"... and to make the process even more difficult, they discovered that part of the hidden tooth was wrapped with a solid bone!!! my dentist had to drill it and chop it off (oh yeah!) my tooth was similar to this one.. only it's more J-shaped:

the anesthesia (spell check pls) used was super effective. i was only injected twice! (last year they had to give it to me 4x) my stitches were longer though.. all the way to the side of my mouth!

this experience is a very good reason for me to eat all the ice cream i can get! had my parents bring this home from hawaii last week: BEN and JERRY'S rocks!

Dental Surgery It!

my gulay.. how did i spend my holy week? well, aside from the usual reflections and meditations.. i had a dental surgery: i had my IMPACTED TOOTH REMOVED

What is an impacted tooth? -- any tooth (but especially a wisdom tooth) that cannot break through the gum into normal position because it is growing against or blocked by bone, soft tissue, or another tooth. (http://www.ahealthyme.com/topic/dentalterms)


i didnt think i had to have it removed about 2.5 years ago when i got my braces .. but my impactang tooth was getting grey and my dentist said it might affect the rest of my healthy molars.. soooooooooooooo... i had it removed.. take a look at these pictures:

the procedure: slice dessagirl's gums open and create some kind of flap (help me) then cut or drill the impactong tooth into about 6 small parts then take it out then do some stitches.. here is how they cut my tooth into little pieces:

i am a so brave!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my dentist had to lend me her ipod during the surgery since she knows how whiney i get.

reasons why i enjoyed the freaking surgery so much:

1. the pain is too much

2. i could hear my tooth cracking and getting sliced into little pieces

3. when they finally sliced the tooth into bits and pieces, they still had a difficult time pulling it out of my gums since my other molars were blocking it. anu ito?? aalisin yung isa ko pang molar?? haller???

4. it lasted for 2 hours

5. this surgery can cost you 6,000 to 8,500.. thank God my denist/surgeon is my cuzin/dentist's boypren

6. i had to be injected 4 times with pain killers (they usually do it 2x lang)

and finally.... I WAS WIDE AWAKE THE WHOLE TIME!!!

so before you have your IMPAKTONG TOOTH removed, psych yourself up and save moolah! now i no longer have my stitches (had them removed a week and a half later) and all i have is this large hole at the back of my mouth.. they say the gums will grow back and flaten in 3 months.. till then, i have to be extra careful no food stays inside it.. eeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww!!

oh yeah, and during the surgery, the following will help you:

1. pray

2. listen to praise music

3. think of all the happy thoughts in your life.. because the pain will make you forget everything. (i almost forgot to pay my dentist after)

Was sick..

was sick this weekend. went home last friday with a runny nose and soar throat. i was sneezing while in line at the terminal and teary eyed coz of my clogged nose and depression coz no one's picking me up to bring me home... i'm really sensitive when i get sick.. i seek attention but usually keep it to myself.. now, i'm a bit better. just a little cough and colds. loads of decolgen, vitamin c, sleep, water, and a nice purple get-well balloon did the trick! and of course, someone who insisted i stay away from sweets...

Hemangioma

when i was in sophomore high, i noticed i had a small dot in my left breast. during the annual thingamajig in the school clinic, i'd show the doctor my tiny dot and they would say it' s nothing. birthmark pa nga daw. after college, it grew a bit and was more formed. when i had it checked lasta 2003, it was diagnosed as a HEMANGIOMA. anu ito? malay. havnt read any stuff about it but my surgeon said it's a clump of blood vessels. it's just unusual it was where it was. but no worries. i dont have to get it removed.

during my annual physical chuvanels last month, i insisted to have it checked. just in case. the rapid growth of girls i know who have breast cancer has made me more cautious. when i returned to the same surgeon, she said it was still a hemangioma. but bigger. and uglier. so i asked her calmly if i can have it removed asap. she said, ok. (it was monday then). so pwede ka sa friday? i was a bit shocked na ganun kabilis kasi last time i was operated is when the monkey scratched my head. and i was, what? 2 or 3? after a few minutes of trying to keep my poise. i shouted: DOC!!!! MASAKIT BA??? GISING BA AKO??? waaaaaa! she said yung injection daw dun mismo would hurt. out patient lang ako.

so here i am, my wound still a bit open.. ew.. ayaw ko yung paghiwa sakin. bakobako and nangingitim. i need sebodemacho asap. so for now, no hiphop and belly dancing class for me. tsk..

i am sick

i am sick. yun lang. sobrang sick since yesterday. SL ako yesterday but had to report to work today for an after-work meeting. wellll.. bale wala ang aking effort kasi i am going home na and 6pm palang. wala na akong strength to join the meeting... Thank God my boss was kind and cool enough to let me go. Thanks Ma'am Sue! sobrang thankful ako.. i might not even work tomorrow para i could rest for next Monday. uuuuugh!!! i am ms. runny nose girl with matching occassional cough and nasal voice... havnt been sick like this for 3 months.. i hate it!
