Milenyo

These are photos i took Friday morning on my way to work. Billboard #1 is beside padi's point las piñas just outside our village along alabang zapote road. yikes... the lightpost looks scary too.
This one fell over an overpass. i think this hit a revo.. couldnt see well. Billboard #2 is in the intersection of coastal and mia road. it was still cloudy in the morning. by noon, the sun was really out.
Billboard#3 fell on top of the edsa magallanes flyover, directly on top of a bus.. only 2 lanes were open that time so traffic was a bit slow that time... i also saw guys in fatigue cleaning the streets. there were plants everywhere. the little trees we had in makati are mostly down. =( sayang. wala nang shade.. it's gona be extra hot again. thank God we had electricity Saturday morning. some cities in cavite and parañaque i thinks still do not have power! yikes!

It's been a while since i experienced such wind and rain.. the last time i think was back in 1998 when i was still in college. our car was half under water but then the Lord is gracious and helped us make it to a gasoline station and pedicab our way home.. this time though, i just stayed at home. reminds me of who we turn when there are "storms" in life. PRAY!PRAY!PRAY!

26th last 26

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me! happy birthday! happy birthday, happy birthday to me!

so here is where i spent my week long celebration:

sarah and i both celebrated with the rest of the pack of wolves in MYLK (my little kitchen). you better check your bill though.. sometimes, they charge you for food not served! grrr!!! sarah! sayang yung 300 natin no! hehe.. it's been a while since we all got together.. (pic borrowed fr watson's post)

my family and i had dinner at ebun. it's really cheap here and they have yummy food! the waitress did a bad job though, taking our pic.. =( o well.. we ordered healthy food like chicharon bulaklak, crispy pata, binagoongan, beef adobo, and sinigang sa miso.. hehe.. dats why lalo ako nagiging sexy

and on my day itself, my boo and i had dinner at HEAVEN AND EGGS. always wanted to try it here.. it's good! (kahit mejo sunog yung steak ko) waiters are friendly. service is really fast, choices are good! noel was really happy with his big plate of nachos and i was overly happy with my minute steak with hashbrowns and mashed potato. diet kasi ako eh.. alam mo na.. ang hourglass figure.. baka ma deform (gag!) sobrang mura pa dito.. as in. noel woke me up at 12am to greet me and said: if you go outside, i can greet you in person. nagising ang lola mo bigla at kahit hindi pa nagmumumog, eh todo unlock ng gate! waaaaa! i have white roses (my favoritest) and PURPLE ones too! in 5 years, ngayon lang ako nabigyan ng REAL purple roses..then noel popd something in my face during dinner! IT'S THE RING I ALWAYS WANTED! waaaaa! he gave me an eternity ring for my bday! lalalalalalaa! happiness! he had to talk to my friend, gen (thanks talga sis) to arrange everything!!! waaaa! (fyi, i'm not engaged ok??!!! it's BDAY GIFT) so all in all, i had a great month. i was broke due all the eating and shopping during midnight madness.. but I HAVE THE RING!!!! yeeeeey! dessagirl = happy girl!

Favorites

I love watching romantic comedies... as in! here are some of my favorites.. HITCH, NEVER BEEN KISSED, and 50 FIRST DATES (MY FAVORITEST EVER)..

i guess i like being an idealist..(though there are a lot of things that changed this). i recommend these movies to watch with your man (if they resist, make them, girls!) and with your girlfriends.. super panalo! i never get tired watching them over and over and over.. although i'm sure everyone saw these already.. watch it again! kung hindi pa, saan planeta ka galing?

although i have to warn you, they have a tendency to make you depressed. kasi yung mga hunghang na lalaking ito ay sobra.. (esp. adam sandler at 50 first dates). if you know what i mean, you'll agree. so to all those who are still hoping that there is such a man.. cge lang.. let me know so i can pray for you.. hehe..

Mr. Crocodile Hunter, rest in peace

i can't believe mr. hypr croc hunter is gone.. my friend kathy sent me an email this morning that he was stabbed by a stingray's barb while swimming on top of it. it went thru his chest and straight to his heart. he was filming while this happened.. a little something about STEVE IRWIN
.
Steve Irwin is the best-known wildlife crusader in the world today. As the Crocodile Hunter, Steve has become a household name and his television adventures are seen by more than 200 million viewers in 120 countries around the globe. He's starred in his first movie for the big screen, The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course, and has also appeared on such popular television talk shows as Regis and Kelly, Conan O'Brien, The Tonight Show, Larry King Live and Oprah. Despite his high international profile, Steve's commitment to wildlife remains paramount.

His passion to protect the world's most endangered and threatened species can be traced back to his parents, conservationists and animal lovers Bob and Lyn Irwin, the founders of Australia Zoo. As a young boy, Steve helped Bob rescue and relocate crocodiles in the rivers of North Queensland. The father-and-son team are proud to say that over 100 crocodiles living at Australia Zoo were either caught by them or bred and raised in the zoo.

In his 20s, Steve volunteered his services to the Queensland government's rogue crocodile relocation program, for years living alone in the mosquito-infested creeks, rivers and mangroves of North Queensland, apprehending huge troublesome crocodiles single-handedly and achieving a staggeringly successful catch rate.

In 1992, Steve and his friend, television producer John Stainton, created a distinctive new style of wildlife documentary. That one-hour program, The Crocodile Hunter, featured Steve, his new wife, American wildlife caretaker Terri Raines, and the animals of Far North Queensland. Steve's boisterous charm, unconventional style and extraordinary daring, combined with Terri's wit and composure in dangerous situations and their amazingly close encounters with such potentially deadly creatures as crocodiles, venomous snakes and spiders, have seen The Crocodile Hunter became a worldwide hit.

In addition to The Crocodile Hunter series, Steve and Terri have filmed 53 episodes of the Emmy Award-nominated Croc Files, various one-off specials for NBC and an intimate new series, The Crocodile Hunter Diaries, a behind-the-scenes look at Steve's daily life at Australia Zoo.

As testimony to their commitment to conservation and the environment, Steve and Terri have purchased over 60,000 acres of wildlife-sensitive land and are working towards the rehabilitation and breeding of some of the world's most endangered animals. At Australia Zoo, they have established a breeding program to help such endangered species as the southern cassowary, koala, giant land tortoise, Fijian crested iguana and Komodo dragon, to name just a few. The zoo, a dedicated conservation area covering over 250 acres, earned Australia's most prestigious tourism award as "Major Tourist Attraction" for 2003.

Steve was recently awarded the title "2004 Queensland Australian of the Year."

Ocular Inspection

watson, fisherpau, and i went to the south for ocular inspection of venues for our business planning. we went to at least 5 different places starting from Lipa, Batangas to Tagaytay. i wasnt THAT tired kasi we ate and then once we get in the car, we sleep (sorry jerry! he was so kind to drive us around even if we couldn't help but fall asleep). panu, 6am palang, i was already in mcdo town center. o well..

here are some highlights of our trip:

the cheesecak from BAG OF BEANS in tagaytay. it's along the main road to your right, coming from the rotonda. my boss took me here early this year during our ocular, too. i ordered strawberry cheesecake and took home the cinamon raisin bread back then... and did the same thing when i brought watson and fisherpau there..

the sound of music altar of claudine barreto (spell check). we went to tagaytay highlands too.. this place is even more famous after the real nice wedding of claudine and raymart (showbizzzz) marami kaming nasagap na stuff about the wedding.. heheheee.. bagay ba??? truly!!!

the first diagonal elevator in the philippines. this is found in tagaytay highlands too, at the bellview hotel. parang escalator na elevator. check out the view. when you look over the balcony, this is what you see.. cool no?

the summit golf club. oooohhh! such a nice piece of construction! take a look! it's relatively new and caters mostly to koreans. they say the golf course is really nice here. mu-ang ko ba sa golf.

so there... watson has some posts regarding our eating adventures too.. click ober here ples.

WHO IS GRIMACE?

watson gave a real intersting info on his latest blog. i cannot help but share this because i love grimace.. read on! (thanks sir nick! dont forget me when you order lunch

grimace1
.
Grimace
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to:
navigation, search
.
Grimace (also known as "The Grimace") is a fictional character who is part of the marketing campaign of McDonald's. He is a friend of Ronald McDonald and a large, jolly fellow who looks like a large purple gumdrop with small arms and legs. He is known for his smiling face and simple demeanor.
In the first cycle of McDonaldland commercials beginning in 1971, Grimace was the "Evil Grimace", with two pairs of arms with which to steal Triple-Thick Shakes. After that first campaign, the character was revised to be one of the "good guys", and his number of arms was reduced to two.
Today, Grimace is generally portrayed in McDonalds' commercials and merchandise as a sort of well-meaning doofus, whose clumsy antics provide a comic foil to the more serious and mature Ronald McDonald.
.
Grimace is a fantasy character, and not intended to be anything specific. However, ever since the character's introduction there has been much speculation (though much of it tongue-in-cheek) about his appearance. Because the majority of McDonald's characters more or less directly represent a food product sold at the restaurants (ie: Mayor McCheese, Fry Guys, McNugget Buddies, etc) many have naturally tried to guess as to what, if any, food product Grimace is supposed to represent.
.
A common speculation is that he is supposed to be a giant McNugget, but his appearance pre-dates the release of that food. A better explanation is that he is a taste bud, though there are many more fanciful attempted explanations. In reality, Grimace's "official" role, according to McDonald's, continues to be to represent the chain's famous milkshakes. However, he does this out of love for the taste, and not because he is in any way a shake-based creature himself.
.
According to the McDonald's website:
.
Grimace is a big, loving, fuzzy purple fellow who is Ronald McDonald's best friend. He's sure Ronald is the world's ultimate authority on everything. While Grimace loves all McDonald's foods, he's absolutely crazy about milkshakes. Grimace is very enthusiastic and eager to try new things. His joyous spirit helps everyone overlook the fact he's a little slow and clumsy sometimes.
Grimace also has a relative,
Uncle O'Grimacey, a green-colored Irish-version of himself. O'Grimacey was a holiday-themed character used by McDonald's in the 1980s in celebrating St. Patrick's Day, in particular marketing its Shamrock Shake.
.
According to a famous line from Clerks: The Animated Series, "Nothing can kill The Grimace."
In
Brazil, Grimace is known by the name of Shaky.

Hemangioma

when i was in sophomore high, i noticed i had a small dot in my left breast. during the annual thingamajig in the school clinic, i'd show the doctor my tiny dot and they would say it' s nothing. birthmark pa nga daw. after college, it grew a bit and was more formed. when i had it checked lasta 2003, it was diagnosed as a HEMANGIOMA. anu ito? malay. havnt read any stuff about it but my surgeon said it's a clump of blood vessels. it's just unusual it was where it was. but no worries. i dont have to get it removed.

during my annual physical chuvanels last month, i insisted to have it checked. just in case. the rapid growth of girls i know who have breast cancer has made me more cautious. when i returned to the same surgeon, she said it was still a hemangioma. but bigger. and uglier. so i asked her calmly if i can have it removed asap. she said, ok. (it was monday then). so pwede ka sa friday? i was a bit shocked na ganun kabilis kasi last time i was operated is when the
monkey scratched my head. and i was, what? 2 or 3? after a few minutes of trying to keep my poise. i shouted: DOC!!!! MASAKIT BA??? GISING BA AKO??? waaaaaa! she said yung injection daw dun mismo would hurt. out patient lang ako.

so here i am, my wound still a bit open.. ew.. ayaw ko yung paghiwa sakin. bakobako and nangingitim. i need sebodemacho asap. so for now, no hiphop and belly dancing class for me. tsk..

i would like to thank the following:

the LORD.. for making my bukol benign

noel: for waiting for 5 hours with me before i could actually be operated. grabe, the day i was scheduled for surgery was hell coz the OR was so full. he was the one who brought me to the hospital and carried my bag after.. first time ito!!!!! hehe... i dont like guys carrying my purse for me.

my opis: for paying for everything

jacky: my best friend nung high school who is now an intern in mmc. she was with me when they took out my stitches and helped me fill out my philhealth form.. mwah!

and all those who prayed for me...

gusto ko sana magpapicture habang inooperahan ako kaya lang baka sampalin ako ng doctor eh.. mwehehehe...

ka-eck eckan sa buhay

at first it looks like i'm wrapped in gauze. mwehehehe.. i though cucumbers are supposed to relax your face. this feels VERY uncomfortable. i had these for 20 minutes on my face. waha! oh well, i guess i'm not one of those spa people.. (oh, i had a bad week.. i shall spa this weekend!)

i think washing my face with soap will be real fine for now. but the ponds commercial said we start aging at 25? nyaha!!! so wat to do?

this on the other hand feels much better... (ang laki ng binti ko.. hehe) i like foot spas and scrubs.. i should get them more often para mabawasan ang mga kalyo ko. ayaw ko kasi magpapedicure kasi nasusugatan yung paa ko lagi and nagpe-peel yung cuticles ko.. i asked the lady what the rose petals are for. decoration chuvanels lang daw. akala ko may powers din sila magpaganda ng paa e.

shoe ishu

ok... need a little help here regarding policies for dresscodes, particularly with shoes. for guys, there is no problem distinguishing corporate shoes from thier rubber shoes. so that's pretty settled.

however, it's a different story for girls. some people think that open-toe should not be allowed. closed shoes should always be worn, with or without heels... this is a bit of a problem since a lot of girls arnt comfy wearing closed shoes. why? it causes corn on your toes and around your foot. if you want to buy really comfy pumps, you have to have a budget of around 4k to buy from marks, naturalizer, rockport, ect.

in my opinion, i think open-toe shoes should be allowed since these looks corporate as well:

similar to these...

on the other hand, these.. although these are closed shoes...i think they do NOT look corporate at all...

(although i like the last one a lot.. and wear something similar to work sometimes).. point is, wats a gud suggestion to distinguish corporate open-toe shoes from non-corporate open-toe shoes? la lang.

Eat all you can

Grabe na ito... super tagal ko nang hindi nag-blog ever... heniways, check out a real nice resto.. it's an eat all you can restaurant for only 600++ a plate: BRAZIL BRAZIL
they serve you grilled stuff from beef down to bananas. sobrang sarap and sulit. all the side dishes are placed in the buffet table: pasta, rice, soup, salads, etc. pati na rin desert. the main course, they serve in a different way.

food comes with 3 types fo sauces: gravey, bbq, at isa pang hindi ko na maalala.

each table has this yoyo thing with a red side and a green side.. when the green side's up, it means they can serve you ANYTHING from the grill.. it the red side's up, stop muna... er, i was the one who kept on flipping this thing to green.. mwehehehe..

here is how they serve the main dish. they just bring it to your table and slice it in front of you while you help them with a thong... super yummy... i tried their roast beef, pork, german sausage. they also served chicken legs, pineapple, banana, etc.

so when you pass by rockwell, dont forget to try BRAZIL BRAZIL!!

All we like sheep...

Take a look at my student's artwork. we had a lesson of how God appointed king david when he was just a kid and looking after sheep.. for our art, i made them glue the pieces together to form a sheep. ang cute 'no? nakakatawa yung green na sheep sa lower left.

cell group

last March we had seminar at church regarding the importance of cell groups. cell leaders from bf, olongapo, bicol, galas, pamapanga were there. and even if i no longer had a cell group, i still wanted to join since i'm hoping to start another one sa youth naman but still continue the one with my cousins. this seminar was given by pastor uriel.. ithe things he said were really powerful and encouraging. people again were reminded of the what really matters: TO BRING MORE SOULS TO CHRIST. hope i could be part of a cell as well.. not as a cell leader but as a member. cell leaders talk less. if you're a member, you can do all the talking. mwehehehe.. it's a good place to vent and to be open without any hesitations.

Things you can do in HK

1. Get fasyon tips from peeps ober dr. i personaly liked the way people dressed in hongkong. since it's still winter, most girls wear boots with skirts and jeans. sobrang cool! some of my friends think they are baduy. i, on the other hand, totally enjoyed their fashion sense. take a look at pix i got from the mtr (mrt satin) and mcdo. their wardrobe is totally inspired by the 80's with wild colors and polka prints matched with plaid and stripes. even their hair are 80's/anime inspired! wish i could pull this off!

boots galore
.
boots galore
2. Shopping. siyempre, hindi mawawala ito. kahit anu pang pigil ang gawin ko, hindi ko kaya. mwehehe.. but i got good bargains tho. you can go in street markets, malls that look weird and scary (yung tipong nasa basement tapos parang maraming goons), or at really classy malls with designer stuff. if you buy in the mongkok night market, things are really expensive. but if you go to the dubious malls i mentioned, you will find real nice tops for hk$25 each (forex is hk$1 = php7.5). but if you to stores like giordano, bossini, g2000, u2, esprit, you'd get really good bargains pagnataon na sale talga. like in tung chung (spell check) if you buy 2 items, you get an additional 20% off the sale price! o diva? here is my sis and i in mong kok night market. i'll be posting pics of the stores where i got real good discounts.

3. Theme Parks. masarap mamashal dito kasi everything is so accessible through commute! you can walk, take the train, bus, or ferry. i'm proud to say that i'm pretty good with the hk mtr already.. hehe.. iwan moko sa kahit anung station, and i'll find my way back. dito pag nagcommute ka, sobrang hasle! my sister, her boyfriend, and noel and i went to disneyland and ocean park. my parents didn't bother to go at nagikot nalang sa mga tindahan ng intsik. we were also with divine, ptr. demi's daughter. she's out tour guide! the girls liked disneyland more while the boys enjoyed ocean park better. i guess it's because of the rides. we had a free ticket for disneyland so i'm not sure how much yung entrance. from admiralty station of the mtr, bus ride and entrance for ocean park is $hk 208. mejow mahal.

4. Visit friends. we spent our sunday service at Church of Christ in Hong Kong located in Central. it's a congregation of around 60 and most are females, working in Hong Kong. the rest are permanent residents and most are filipinos. ptr. demi and ptr. sunny (he will now be moving to dubai) are the ones taking care of our brothers and sisters who need a lot of encouragement since they are far from their families and usually have difficult employers. they are so warm and super nice! last 2003, one of the girls, si grace, brought us to a nearby market. she's now moving to canada.. if you're around hk, you might wana visit them. nakaka-bless!
